**Visit of the Head of the Fisheries Department of Merauke Regency to Pondok DDI Lampu Satu**
This afternoon, Pondok DDI Lampu Satu in Merauke received an official visit from the Head of the Fisheries Department of Merauke Regency, accompanied by the Head of the KKP Division and a representative from the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, namely Aly Jennings.
This visit was conducted as part of a courtesy meeting as well as to discuss a planned outreach program for children from fishing families studying at Pondok DDI Lampu Satu. During the meeting, it was conveyed that the program will involve approximately 40 students from grades 6, 7, and 8.
The purpose of this outreach activity is to provide students with knowledge about fisheries, marine resource management, and the importance of preserving marine ecosystems for the future of fishing communities.
The outreach program is scheduled to take place in June at Pondok DDI Lampu Satu Merauke. The boarding school warmly welcomed the initiative and expressed hope that the activity will broaden students’ insights and motivate them—especially children of fishermen—to continue learning and gain better knowledge about fisheries.
Through the support and collaboration of the Fisheries Department of Merauke Regency and the Australian Fisheries Management Authority, it is expected that young members of fishing communities in Merauke will gain valuable education and grow into knowledgeable, skilled, and environmentally responsible future fishermen.
